What is the program?
The Voluntary Pre-kindergarten program is designed to prepare Florida’s children for kindergarten and develop the skills they need to become good readers and successful students. It includes standards for literacy skills, strict accountability, appropriate curricula, substantial instruction periods, manageable class sizes and qualified instructors. The school-year program consisting of 540 instructional hours. The Early Learning Coalition of Broward County, Inc. is administering the Voluntary Pre-kindergarten program at the local level which includes registering child care providers and providing applications and information to parents.
What are the steps for these services:
Visit browardchildcare.org go to resources for parents, new VPK or school readiness applications. Create your own portal. VPK is a free education for children who live in Florida and will be 4 on or before September 1st.
SCHOOL REGISTRATION FOR 2022-2023 IS NOW OPEN
The School Year 2022-2023 VPK Program will be available to ALL children who live in the State of Florida and are 4 years old on or before 09/01/2022. Florida’s Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program or VPK is a free educational program that prepares 4-year-olds for kindergarten and beyond.
Please go to the Early Learning Coalition webpage: https://www.elcbroward.com. Go to Parent Portal, apply for VPK, and you can start your registration process. As soon as you receive your Voucher, you may bring it into the office so that we can save your child’s spot in our preschool. Please keep in mind that there is an unlimited number of eligibility certificates available. Any child eligible for the above programs will receive a certificate. Please note that the VPK Application and Enrollment Eligibility process is continuous. There will be additional application sites and schedules in the future.

What to bring for registration
Before you go to register your child to any of the VPK sites, make sure you have the application properly filled out. Bring your child’s birth certificate and proof of Florida residency, such as a utility bill.
