Hello dear parents. We hope everyone and your families are doing well. After 10 weeks of being in lockdown, we have finally arrived at the time where we feel it is safe and secure to re-open My First Years Preschool on Monday, June 1, 2020. We have been in constant communication with DCF, and we will be following the CDC/DCF guidelines for preschools, including social distancing and sanitation.
Procedures and Guidelines
Testing: All staff members At My First Years Preschool, has been thoroughly tested for Covid-19. We will be practicing all sanitation and disinfecting daily. All staff members will be equipped with disinfecting spray bottles to properly disinfect all surfaces frequently. Every adult who is on the premises must have a mask, gloves, and face shield.
Screening: Every child, teacher, or parent will be screened daily for any signs of fever, cough, runny-nosed, etc. Please do not bring your child to school if you notice that he/she is not feeling well. Any child or staff member who has a fever of 100F will be sent home. Parents are expected to pick up their sick child within the hour of having been notified. This will minimize the transmission of any kind of virus, bacteria, etc. PLEASE READ THE CDC GUIDELINES FOR PRESCHOOLS on the web.
Drop off/Pick-up: As per ELC/CDC, we are implementing social distancing. This means that children must be dropped off and picked up at the main entrance. There will be one of our staff members greeting and screening every child before entering the preschool. There will be a marked area set up for parents to distance themselves from other parents while dropping off or picking up their children. Infants must be in their car seats to avoid direct contact with parent-staff members.
Hot Lunch: According to ELC guidelines and to avoid any kind of contamination, we will not be catering hot lunches for the rest of the year. We are not authorized to bring a third party into the preschool (caterer) for safety reasons. Therefore, we are asking parents to send lunch, snacks, and water for your children. Please include an icepack in their lunch box to keep food fresh. According to the new regulations, we will be sealing tight all the water fountains. Therefore, it is especially important that all children bring a bottle of water daily.
Bedding and Clothes: All bedding must be packed in a one-gallon Ziploc bag. (Small blanket and fitted sheet). Change of clothes must be packed in a one-gallon Ziploc bag. Please bring at least three sets of clothes. Soiled clothes will be sent back home as needed. Although we understand that certain items are difficult to find nowadays, it is important that you send to school hand sanitizer, flushable wipes, Ziploc bags (one gallon), and tissues. These items are exclusively for your child, and no one else.
Hours of Operation
Following the CDC/DCF guidelines, meantime and until further notice will be open reduced hours as follows: Monday-Friday, from 8:00 am – 5:30 pm until further notice. This schedule will slowly change to our regular time within a few weeks or until it is safe, and everyone is practicing the new safety guidelines.
Summer Camp Information
We will be having summer camp ages 5 to 12 years old starting June 8, 2020. As we all must adhere to the CDC regulations (new normal), we will not be going on field trips this summer. We are currently working on changing all the trips for exciting things to do indoors, such as water games several times a week and other table games and activities to keep the children safe, healthy, and happy. Older children can bring their tablets or computer games at their own responsibility. These items may not be shared by anyone else. Due to the possibility of contamination, toys from home are not allowed.
Payment would be as always, every Friday before the following activity week. Payment will be accepted by phone or credit card on file. CDC recommends that pin pads are not used. We are in the process of installing a program so that parents can pay directly to the preschool from home/work etc. This will avoid contact and contamination.
